In this modern day where statistics indicate that up to 50% of marriages now fail due to one reason or another, online dating sites have become very popular. So popular in fact, that the majority of divorced or separated partners at one time or another, visit a dating site, if not to actually meet someone, but simply to ‘look’ and see what kind of people are currently available and “out there”.
Here’s the question though. Is everyone who they claim to be?
Yes, most are, however, there is that handful of registered males and females who use another’s photograph instead of their own to advertise themselves. Why? No one knows why anyone would take that risk, because eventually one or the other would more than likely prefer to meet either face to face, or at the very least Facetime the other person on their computer or phone.
It’s a sad fact that there are many lonely people around and if someone simply wanted to find someone attractive to exchange texts with, there may possibly be no harm caused, however, the person who is “catfishing” does not realise that just maybe the person they are chatting with is seriously investing in the conversation with the hope of meeting them one day and even going so far as hoping that a real romance (possibly physical), will develop.
So when a person “catfishes”, they are wasting the other person’s valuable time and the situation will not last for long because the whole relationship would be based on lies right from the start.
This is where Facial Recognition may assist clients with their choices. All we need is one clear photo of the person who the client suspects of as being evasive, or lying about themselves, for us to match it with all the other photographs of that person on the internet. Note: The previous one we did last week taken from one small FB photograph, matched over twenty profiles of that same person. In other words, that person on the one photograph had many sites throughout the internet and it enabled us to sift through and find out almost everything about that person and the best part, it is confirmed information that can be sent to the client.
To explain further:
Facial Recognition searches offer a valuable tool for verifying the authenticity of online identities, particularly in the context of detecting instances of catfishing and ensuring the credibility of online dating profiles.
Additionally, this technology extends it’s utility to various other domains where facial recognition plays a pivotal role in enhancing security and authentication protocols.
